Avara Roberts, BS

Hi, I’m Avara.

Avara Roberts is the children’s guide at Homestead Farms, and is also a mom of two. She has over a decade of experience supporting children and families, and has a Bachelor’s degree from Cal State University Easy Bay. Before moving to Bend in 2016, she worked for a non-profit children’s mental health organization, focusing on community wellness, creating systemic change in schools and communities, and removing barriers to mental health care. Avara has loved working with children of all ages, including providing aftercare to students at her children’s Montessori school here in Bend.

Towards the end of 2021 her family chose to follow their dream of moving to the forest to begin their homesteading journey. Their 5-acre property is home to nearly 40 chickens, kunekune pigs, Nigerian dwarf goats, two bee hives, an ever-expanding garden, and a budding lavender farm.

Teaching is Avara’s passion. Whether it is through gardening, yoga, animals, or art, she loves to share her knowledge and homesteading skills with children to help build inner confidence and worth. Every day is a learning opportunity on the farm, where she is grateful to be able to bond with and care for the children our community.

*Avara is certified in Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED, and has also passed a full background check.
