CAMP HOMESTEAD

*CAMPS WILL RESUME THE SUMMER OF 2024

GARDENING During our course on gardening, students will participate in the basic skills of seed starting, planting, weeding, and watering. They will be starting their own seeds, and harvesting food from the garden to eat.

FOOD PRESERVATION During our course on food preservation, students will learn about dehydrating and canning, and will explore the process of making and canning jam (Spring / Summer) or soup (Fall / Winter) from scratch.

HERBAL WELLNESS During our course on herbal wellness, students will be foraging plants and herbs on the homestead to create a healing salve, and will learn the uses of nature’s own medicine and healing remedies.

SOAP MAKING During our course on soap making, students will explore the properties of different soap ingredients, learn the process and basics of soap making, and get to create their own soap using natural elements and essential oils.

SEWING During our course on sewing, students will learn sewing basics, including stitching with a needle and thread, and how to sew on a button. Students will also use the sewing machines on the homestead to make themselves a keepsake.

SOURDOUGH BREAD MAKING During our course on sourdough bread making, students will create a sourdough starter using flour and water, learn how to feed and care for it, and will get to make and enjoy sourdough bread from scratch.

ALL ABOUT CHICKENS During our course on chickens, students will learn the life cycle of a chicken, how to care for chickens, including feeding and watering, and will learn how to keep a chicken coop. Students will collect and bring home fresh eggs.

CARPENTRY During our course on carpentry, students will build and paint birdhouses. They will learn about basic safety rules, and will use sand paper, hammer, nails, wood glue, and paint to bring their own creation to life.

OTHER We love to gauge the interest of our students and add other topics for them to explore and immerse themselves in. Some of these may include archery, pottery, animal tracking, yoga, flower arranging and more!
